Role Overview: Marketing Course Developer (Contractor)

Masterschool is looking for experienced Marketing Course Developers to help us build a world-class, career-focused marketing curriculum. In this role, you’ll design and develop comprehensive course materials for our full-time, online, month-long courses—giving students the hands-on knowledge and practical skills they need to thrive in the field.

Each course runs for four weeks, with daily presentations and weekly assignments, designed to mimic real marketing projects and workflows. You will be responsible for building the full course experience—from the structure and learning objectives down to the day-by-day slides, project briefs, and student tasks.

This is a remote, project-based contractor role, ideal for experienced marketers with a passion for education and instructional design.

Available Courses

We’re hiring subject matter experts to develop one or more of the following:

  1. Intro to Digital Marketing & AI Foundations
  2. Website Planning, Content, Optimization, Landing Pages & UI Basics
  3. Social Media & Content Marketing
  4. SEO & Performance Marketing
  5. Email, CRM & Affiliate Marketing
  6. AI Video Creation & Influencer Marketing

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Create structured, job-aligned course materials for a 4-week, full-time program
  • AI Tutor Collaboration: Work with our internal team to train and integrate content into our AI-powered learning assistant, ensuring students can review and practice independently.
  • Real-World Relevance: Design assignments and lessons based on real marketing workflows, tools, and campaign strategy.
  • Content Iteration: Respond to feedback and collaborate with our team to improve clarity, pacing, or depth where needed.

Time Commitment & Work Structure

  • Each course is a 4-week, full-time learning experience.
  • Course development includes:
  • 16+ presentation decks (approx. 4 per week)
  • 4 weekly assignments or mini-projects
  • A capstone project

This is a project-based role, with a clear deliverable timeline. You’ll work independently and asynchronously with weekly check-ins and team collaboration.

Developers typically spend 40–60 hours total per course, depending on complexity and prior content availability.

Qualifications

Must-haves:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in one or more areas of digital marketing:
  • SEO, Paid Media, Content Marketing, CRM/Email Marketing, Social Media, Web/UX, or Influencer/Video Marketing.
  • Familiarity with key marketing tools, depending on your specialty:
  • Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, GA4, WordPress/Wix, Canva, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Google Search Console, TikTok Creator Tools, ChatGPT, etc.
  • Proven ability to create structured, engaging educational content—such as onboarding guides, internal training, workshops, or course modules.
  • Instructional or teaching experience—you’ve served as a lecturer, instructor, bootcamp mentor, or corporate trainer in a marketing or business subject area.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Ability to develop content for more than one course area.
  • Relevant certifications (or demonstrated knowledge aligned with them), such as:
  • Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce Certification )
  • Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate )
  • Google Ads Certifications (Search, Display, etc.)
  • Google Analytics Certification (GA4)
  • HubSpot Marketing Automation Certification
