About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on DevOps Team Lead to build, manage, and scale a high-impact DevOps team. You’ll lead infrastructure strategy, promote DevOps excellence, and drive automation and platform reliability across the organization. This role combines technical leadership with team development and operational ownership.
Your Responsibilities & Impact:
- Team Leadership & Growth
- Lead and mentor a team of 3–5 DevOps engineers
- Foster a culture of ownership, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Grow and structure the team to support expanding infrastructure and business needs.
Infrastructure & Platform Ownership:
- Own and evolve scalable, secure, and observable cloud architecture (with a focus on AWS).
- Leverage Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform, and GitOps to maintain reproducible infrastructure.
- Improve CI/CD processes, developer experience, and automation pipelines.
- Lead strategic projects to modernize infrastructure, adopt new technologies, and improve stability.
- Proactively drive retrospectives, platform upgrades, and systemic reliability improvements.
- Monitor infrastructure health, optimize cloud costs and infrastructure KPIs.
- Deeply understand system complexity and internal service dependencies.
- Partner with Security to maintain compliance (SOC 2, access control, audits)
Hands-On Execution:
- Plan and execute improvements, upgrades, and incident-driven fixes
- Actively contribute to the design and implementation.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, problem resolution, and tooling development.
- Take the lead on production issues, ensuring availability and timely response.
- Proactively identify needs that align with the product and business goals
- Own on-call rotation, and lead the investigation of critical technical incidents
Requirements
- At least 2 years in a DevOps leadership position and over 5 years of hands-on DevOps experience.
- Deep knowledge of AWS and infrastructure best practices.
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform, GitOps, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
- Scripting skills (Python/Go/Bash) and a strong automation mindset.
- Track record of improving systems proactively and reactively.
- Experience leading technical teams in complex, distributed environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus).
- Solid understanding of security principles, cloud networking, and compliance (SOC 2).
- Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to mentor, motivate, and develop others.
