Position Overview

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to own and scale the engine behind our digital HMO. In this role, you'll develop scalable backend services, orchestrate secure, real-time data flows, build robust APIs that power our patient-facing features, and lead complex integrations with external clinical and insurance partners. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office collaboration two days a week in our New York City office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement resilient, low-latency APIs and backend architectures that handle critical patient data flows.
  • Design scalable data models and optimize query performance to handle relational datasets.
  • Implement comprehensive testing strategies including unit and integration tests.
  • Work closely with product managers, design and business partners to build best in class solutions for our customers.
  • Ensure operational excellence through high availability, scalability, and security of our backend systems.
  • Architect secure, fail-safe integrations with external healthcare systems, insurance networks, and third-party APIs.
  • Use AI tools to improve velocity, code quality, problem-solving, and efficiency across the software delivery lifecycle.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals in Python and Django framework.
  • Experience designing and optimizing relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, and GCP (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • BSc / MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical industry experience.

Preferred:

  • A product-minded backend engineer who isn't afraid to cross the stack (React/React Native) to ship end-to-end features and unblock user-facing value.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for API integration.
  • Experience with healthcare systems.
